Top 20 from "Alex has somewhere to be."

Not sure yet if I'll be up to blogging tomorrow. My 4 year old is extremely sick (had to rush her to the doctor yesterday when her temp spiked to 104.5) and now I seem to have some variation of her bug. Blah.

But I do have the top 20 for you. For those whose names are not on the below list, I'll be emailing out the judge's feedback as soon as I can.

Here is the list of those who made the top 20 (in alpha order):

Gillian Adams
S. J. Bouquet
Lindsey Bradford
Rachel Crew
Paulina Czarnecki
Imogen Elvis
Kaitlyn Evensen
Abigail Hartman
Alyssa Liljequist
Cheyenne Lynnae
Jenna Blake Morris
Caroline Niesen
Faye Oygard
Rachelle Rea
Katie Scheidhauer
Melanie G. Schroeder
Olivia Smit
Jessica Staricka
Whitney Stephens
Allison Young

  1. I honestly didn't think I'd make the top twenty! This was such a hard prompt for me.

I hope you and your kid get better soon. We'll miss you until you're well again.

  2. Nice, I made it! That's the perfect solution for feeling discouraged. :)

I hope you and your daughter get better soon!! :(

  3. Me too! Congrats to everyone who participated... Just submitting something means you're deticated to writing (and that deserves recognition). Next time I'm working super hard!

My prayers go out to your daughter, hope she feels better soon! (I was wondering what happened when there was't a post at the usual time).

  4. 'Tis the season to be ill, unfortunately. I hope both you and your daughter are feeling better soon, and that no one else in the family gets the bug. Thank you for taking the time to post the Top Twenty despite your illness; you're much more dedicated than I would be!

Since my name is last alphabetically I almost missed it and thought I didn't make it - but I did. I'm so excited! Thank you so much for having this contest. :D

I hope you and yours heal quickly and well.

  10. Yes! I made it! I'm psyched! This was only the 2nd time I entered and I didn't do so well the first time.... Top five! Wow!

    I you feel better!

Congratulations to everyone else, too! I hope I can see some of the other contestant's prompts soon!

  11. Awww, poor McKenna! That's just terrible! I hope both of you feel better soon! :(

I subscribe to posts by email and scrolled through this one (after I saw the title) oh-so-slowly, letting out a deep breath I wasn't even aware I'd been holding when I saw my name! Yay! I agree, ya'll, this was a hard one!

Thanks so much for hosting these, Stephanie, and congrats to all!

  12. I really enjoyed the set up of this contest - getting to figure out Alex's story rather than starting from a prompt. Where is Alex trying to go? And why is Alex trying to get there? Whew. This was fun. Congrats to all the winners! Looking forward to reading all the entries.

Hope everyone is feeling better on your end, Stephanie!

  13. Thanks so much everyone for your sweet comments about me and McKenna. We've had a scary couple days with her (her temperature keeps spiking up to 105) and I'm still feeling pretty cruddy myself, which means my poor husband is having to do everything around here.

Thanks so much for you patience with me while we recuperate!

I worked really hard on this prompt then woke up Thursday morning at four thirty and was like, "Shoot. I forgot to send in my writing prompt." Haha but congratulations to everyone who made it!

    1. Oh, man, Morgan! Kinda hurts my heart hearing that. Maybe what you wrote will line up with an upcoming prompt sentence...?

  16. Oh my goodnight!
I made it! I was scrawling through pretty fast, saw a CHE and flipped.
    Yayayayya!

I hope McKenna is feeling better, I have a baby brother, and I worry about him so much when he's sick.

  17. Do y'all have a general idea of when the judging will be finished, or is it up in the air? Thank you so much for doing this. It's an awesome experience for me. :)
