I decided I needed to create a language after I had created my very own made up solar system (all just for fun), I always liked the idea of having the power of creation in my own hands. I'd finished drawing my solar system up, but I didn't have any names for the sun, or the planets so I decided to create a language. I've just finished creating the alphabet of my language, and I have tons of ideas.

Sometimes I don't know why I do this stuff, I could have just came up with names for the planets , but no...I had to create a language.

I don't have any words yet, I'm still working on getting the alphabet right. Each letter is connected to the letters around it in the sentence so I'm making "the rules of connection" that describe how to connect the letters to each other. wow I am not making this an easy language. Yaaa difficulty! Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4024721400572472213.post-24748475919816682432015-02-21T10:37:58.523-06:002015-02-21T10:37:58.523-06:00This was very helpful. I love that. How clever ...That is adorable, Alyson! I love that. How clever of you.

I'd take out the italics, Alyson, and let the reader translate. The italics are "telling" the reader extra stuff. Show the reader instead with the other characters' frustration/confusion/understanding based on what they say, think, or how they respond. EX:

She picked up the journal and read.

Wy cant raini das bee brit?

She smiled at her daughter's spelling. Then she remembered a time when it had been pouring rain outside and the sun's light had broken through the clouds. It had been the most beautiful thing. She hoped her daughter could see such a sight someday.

Or whatever... But don't think the reader can't understand. And if the reader is a little confused, that's okay, as long as you make it clear with the other things that happen.Jill Williamsonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11943570354349667196noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4024721400572472213.post-85660905322426872282013-03-01T08:53:08.033-06:002013-03-01T08:53:08.033-06:00Yeah, Tolkien really did the whole deal, didn'...Yeah, Tolkien really did the whole deal, didn't he?
