The NextGen Writers Conference is soon!

A brief weekend interruption to remind you guys that the NextGen Writer's Conference, a free, on-line conference for writers 19 and under, is quickly approaching. The conference runs August 2nd through August 3rd, and it's super helpful to our lovely hostess - Shellie Neumier - if you register sooner rather than later.

The deadline for the NextGen backcover copy contest is TOMORROW. So get your entries in pronto! You have 150 words to tell our judges - all published writers - about your story ... and doing a good job might mean an editor requesting your proposal. Just sayin'. You can find out more details about the backcover copy contest here. And you can get a peek at what the judges will be using for scoring here.

And if you're still on the fence about participating in the conference, check out this amazing line up of presenters and classes:

  2. It´s such a pity, that I already am 21...Otherwise I would participate on the conference with such a pleasure. Never mind. Enjoy it, okej?

  3. Entered the contest! :) Oh, oops, Stephanie... I just realized it might not say I am registered for the conference, but I am, just under "Victoria" instead... is that still okay, or do you need me to resend the contest entry?

  5. Sadly, I will be out of town for it. :'( I signed up and then realized it. Can I still see the posts, though, if it's a couple of days later?

    1. Yay! Okay, then, I'll have my mom send in my permission email. What exactly does she need to put on that?

    2. So glad to know that! I wasn't going to sign up because I'll be away at camp without Internet access those days. Now I'm registering! :D (Oh, and will it still be ok to enter the backcover copy contest, even though I won't be involved in the conference while it's actually happening?)

    3. Yes, Laurie! Send it on in.

Becki, aren't you over 18? Shellie should have sent your parents an email saying you'd registered for the conference. All they need to do is write back and say it's cool for Becki Badger to join in all the NextGen fun.

    4. :D No, I'm only 16. I'll 17 at the end of the summer. I do all my mom's emails, though, so I'll have her give her permission and get that sent in.

  6. I am so excited for this! It totally blew me away last year at how much I learned and enjoyed it. I was glued to my computer for two days straight! ;-) Looking forward to this year! :)

  7. I signed up, but it didn't send me or my mom any confirmation emails. It sounds awesome, so I really hope I'm registered!

    1. Shellie has been out of town, so it's possible she just hasn't had a chance to send them yet.

  9. Hey Stephanie, did you get my entry? I sent another email asking if you did, too. Sorry about being so paranoid, but I'm away from home and don't have much Internet access.

Looking forward to the conference, though I'll be away from home for part of it. :( They email us our passcodes on August 1st, right? (I think I asked this already, but I can't remember the answer...)

  12. I've been exploring this site, and the conference looks like tons of fun! I will hopefully be listening in! I think it's so cool what you guys have been doing; you have no idea how helpful it is for a teen like me to have someplace to go to for my writing. Thx! :)

  13. It really rots that I couldn't enter that contest... :-/ I still haven't gotten my code thingy yet, some screwups with email things on my part. *sigh* At least I have the conference to look forward to :)
