Jill and I are taking some time to recharge our bloggy batteries over the next couple weeks. We'll be back on Monday, June 30th! Here's a bit of inspiration to fuel you in the meantime:
I was wondering... While Stephanie and Jill are on their (well-deserved) break can we get to know each other and our WIPs more? I know a lot of you hang out on the Facebook group, but I found that takes WAY too much of my time (it's just too interesting :))... and I'd love to hang around more writers.
Me, I'm writing contemporary YA about either high school or middle school. I started writing HS, but then thought the story wasn't complex enough, wondering if it could be MS. But then I thought of something I could add to make it more high school-ish.... So now I don't really know what I'm writing about. I'm praying God shows me what will be better. :) What about you guys?

Ooh, I agree-- we should take this time to get to know each other better. I don't have a Facebook account, so I haven't really met anyone on here outside of the Word Wars they did last month. So, hi. *wave* I'm Athelas, and it's nice to meet all of you people who's blog I've been lurking about for the past couple of weeks or months, and it's also nice to meet all of you that I haven't come across yet!
As for my novels, my main project is a Fantasy that would be classified either as YA or MS. I don't really know, since my main character is a twelve-year-old, but I also have several other characters who are twenty-ish. A secondary, but still large project is a Science Fiction/Space story, which is definitely Young Adult; ironically, most of the characters are twenty or older, except for two, who are seven and four. I seem to have a bit of a problem with age ranges going with the intended audience. Both of them are somewhat epic stories with dynamic characters, thrilling plots, and excellent writing. In theory, anyway. xP What are you all writing?

Hopefully by then I'll be done first drafting by then. I'm writing the Black Moment right now and feeling rather sickened with myself for enjoying it so much. But I don't think it's pure sadism - maybe an itty bit though - so much as that I find it almost beautifully tragic the way everything crashing down, and that I like books where characters go through tough parts and make it out stronger. More pain, more gain... I suppose I am sadistic, but stories just seem more meaningful sometimes if the poor protagonist goes through a lot of pain. And here I am rambling...
Enjoy the time off Stephanie and Jill, you will be missed, but it will make me even more excited when the blog is back up!

ReplyDeleteWriting is completely about perseverance. Pretty sure every writer has hit a road-block stage at some point, but it's about continuing onward! :)
