Can you tell I'm excited? I don't know what it is about a new year. This day is still a day, just like all the days last week, but there is this little, psychological hum in the air that makes me excited for all that lies ahead in a brand new year.
Or maybe I'm just in a good mood because my husband bought me a parasol for Christmas.

We have.
Stephanie, Shannon, and I had a fabulous chat over Google Hangouts a few weeks ago where we talked about the results from the GTW survey and made plans for the blog. Have we got a year in store for you!
● We're going to try blogging on the same topic, from different perspectives. Steph will give an instructional approach, I will give examples of what works, what doesn't work, and how I go about fixing things, and Shan will get you guys writing with prompts and questions to ponder.
● We're going to do some series on editing, the business of publishing, share our stories of how we all got published, and drafting, to name a few.
● There will be more word wars.
● We will have more bonus material, which will consist of printables, templates, and (one of my favorites) lists!
● We're going to try some panels in which you can ask us questions and we will all answer, so you can see three different (or similar) approaches, depending on the question.
● And . . .
So, to recap, for 2017 on the Go Teen Writers blog you will see a three different perspectives on related topics; panel discussions; a series on the business side of being an author; our faces talking to you; and likely more of the parasol.
Happy 2017, teen writers! It's going to be fabulous.

I can't wait for 2017!!! I'm going to start working with a content editor to polish the book I finished last year...and I've got a publisher VERY interested so that's the best "nerdly present" I could ask for. However, I also learned that we're going on vacation, which I will probably use as a research experience--I always tend to fall in love with, and therefore write about, places I visit while on vacation :) I can't wait to read more of your advice in the coming year. Stephanie, Jill, and Shannon...keep up the good work!
Oooo... ah.... That's a beautiful parasol, by the way. ;) I'm really excited for the changes you ladies have decided to introduce this year. I don't know if getting a copy of Shannon's Angel Eyes counts as nerdly, but it made me jump for joy! Happy New Year, writers!!
Shockingly, I don't think I received any nerdly presents this year! But I did use the money I was given for Christmas to order writing and research books, so maybe that counts? :)

Now, my number one plan for 2017 is to write everyday. My number two plan is to not break my number one plan. My number three plan is to not break my number two plan. My number four..... You get the picture.

Sounds like an awesome plan, Lexi! And art supplies sound like a lot of fun. Maybe you should write 5-6 days a week and save 1-2 for art. Because you could still think about your book while you are arting, so that's still helpful. ;-)

I have started uni in october and so far, I have been absolutely horrible at having good writing time because I got so busy with everything else. But I've got a few plans and ideas I really want to work on, so yeah, really looking forward to it! (Also I got some book money for christmas and I'm going to get storyworld first with it, can't wait)

I got books (and more books) for Christmas, a movie based on the life of J.K. Rowling (it's called Magic Beyond Words), a notebook, and A FOUNTAIN PEN SET. I am way too stoked about the fountain pens! Ever since Nadine Brandes mentioned how she writes with them...
This year, one of my main goals is to write more! The amount I worked on my WIP in 2016 was pathetic, so I hope to have the first draft finished by the end of the summer, and I also want to write a novella that's a retelling Red Riding Hood (my goal is to have it started in June, and finished by December).
I'm stoked for 2017, too! Here's to a bright and shiny new year! <3
I go all out for New Years plans. I love the psychological kick in the pants and clean slate the changing of years brings. Sadly, I have had a cold since Christmas and have spent most of the new year in bed. I can't wait to make goals once I'm feeling better. I am so excited for all that is coming for Go Teen Writers!!! The geekiest thing I got for Christmas was an Origami Owl locket. The hopeless romantic in me was totally geeking out. And my parents gave it to me while the song "His favorite christmas story" played which is one of my favorite christmas songs and is really romantic and vintage feeling.
I have gone all out with my new years resolutions this year. I have 9 pages of them! Writing wise I want to get published, improve my grammar and pass my English exams.
I can't wait for all that is coming to Go Teen Writers!
The nerdiest Christmas present I received was the Go Teen Writers book. I was attached for the next two days!
My most wonderful nerdly present was a knitted Jayne from Firefly hat which a friend made me -- IT'S AMAZING. <3 (Also a Diana Wynne Jones books and essays on Tolkien. :D)
Working on a book of poetry. I have an amazing friend who is working as my editor and really making it shine. She wrote The Road, Taken (Oloris Publishing) and inspired me to write my own. I highly recommend it, especially if you are a fan of Middle-earth and the Ring-bearer. :) Also working on a non-fiction book about Bilbo and Frodo. The first book will be done this year, the second by end of next. And many more books are inside, anxious to come out! :)
Got a bunch of books from my sister who does not mind going to one of my wish-lists and buying me stuff I want. The list is so large, I don't know exactly what so it's still a surprise - yea! She is the best to do that!
I won a bunch of Amazon Gift Cards at Facebook Book Events over the holidays. That was fun. Wishing you all a happy new year and all the best with the teen writers blog.
