Happy New Year, everyone!
Can you tell I'm excited? I don't know what it is about a new year. This day is still a day, just like all the days last week, but there is this little, psychological hum in the air that makes me excited for all that lies ahead in a brand new year.
Have you made any plans for 2017?
We have.
Stephanie, Shannon, and I had a fabulous chat over Google Hangouts a few weeks ago where we talked about the results from the GTW survey and made plans for the blog. Have we got a year in store for you!
Happy 2017, teen writers! It's going to be fabulous.
Have you made any plans for 2017? Share in the comments. And if you received a nerdly present, feel free to stare that in the comments as well. :-)
I can't wait for 2017!!! I'm going to start working with a content editor to polish the book I finished last year...and I've got a publisher VERY interested so that's the best "nerdly present" I could ask for.
ReplyDeleteHowever, I also learned that we're going on vacation, which I will probably use as a research experience--I always tend to fall in love with, and therefore write about, places I visit while on vacation :)
I can't wait to read more of your advice in the coming year. Stephanie, Jill, and Shannon...keep up the good work!
Wow, good job, Taylor! That's so exciting about your books!!
DeleteThanks, Olivia ;)
DeleteSounds like a great plan, Taylor! Keep us posted. Hope you have a nice vacation. Sounds like a new book will be brewing! :-)
DeleteOooo... ah.... That's a beautiful parasol, by the way. ;) I'm really excited for the changes you ladies have decided to introduce this year. I don't know if getting a copy of Shannon's Angel Eyes counts as nerdly, but it made me jump for joy! Happy New Year, writers!!
ReplyDeleteThank you. I love my parasol... LOL!
DeleteYes! Angel Eyes is a fabulous book. I loaned out my trilogy and need to see about getting it back. Might be time for a re-read!
Shockingly, I don't think I received any nerdly presents this year! But I did use the money I was given for Christmas to order writing and research books, so maybe that counts? :)
ReplyDeleteI'm so looking forward to everything we have planned this year! Thanks for kicking us off, Jill!
I didn't get any nerdly stuff... (Unless you count a bunch of art supplies and a guilty conscience for not writing as much as I should.)
ReplyDeleteNow, my number one plan for 2017 is to write everyday.
My number two plan is to not break my number one plan.
My number three plan is to not break my number two plan.
My number four.....
You get the picture.
I'm so excited for this year! Thanks for caring enough to update the site.
P.S. I am looking forward to more of the parasol. :D
Sounds like an awesome plan, Lexi! And art supplies sound like a lot of fun. Maybe you should write 5-6 days a week and save 1-2 for art. Because you could still think about your book while you are arting, so that's still helpful. ;-)
DeleteI'm so excited about this! Sounds like a fabulous plan for the year, ladies!
ReplyDeleteI got a thick set of Civil War research books that I have been absolutely drooling over since opening them on Christmas. :D
Ooh, that sounds like some fabulous research, Rachelle!
DeleteOh my gah! The parsol! SO EXCITED, YOU GUYS! 2017 is going to be awesome.
ReplyDeleteThis sounds so exciting! printables :) videos :)
ReplyDeletemy goal for 2017 would be to organize my writing life better. I have started uni in october and so far, I have been absolutely horrible at having good writing time because I got so busy with everything else. But I've got a few plans and ideas I really want to work on, so yeah, really looking forward to it! (Also I got some book money for christmas and I'm going to get storyworld first with it, can't wait)
Organization can be really helpful. Good plan. Hope Storyworld First is a help to you! :-)
DeleteAHHH I'm so excited! You guys are so amazing and I can't wait to see what all you have in store for us! (Sadly, my device will not show me your no doubt lovely parasol. I must switch to my laptop and see if that works ...)
ReplyDeleteAh, technology. I'm sure the parasol will return. I must brainstorm some other ways to use it. :-)
DeleteHuzzah! I can't wait for more of Go Teen Writers! :D
ReplyDeleteI got books (and more books) for Christmas, a movie based on the life of J.K. Rowling (it's called Magic Beyond Words), a notebook, and A FOUNTAIN PEN SET. I am way too stoked about the fountain pens! Ever since Nadine Brandes mentioned how she writes with them...
This year, one of my main goals is to write more! The amount I worked on my WIP in 2016 was pathetic, so I hope to have the first draft finished by the end of the summer, and I also want to write a novella that's a retelling Red Riding Hood (my goal is to have it started in June, and finished by December).
I'm stoked for 2017, too! Here's to a bright and shiny new year! <3

Ahhh! I love fountain pens! They feel so fancy to write with :)

Wow! Fun gifts and exciting goals! I hope we will be an encouragement to you, Olivia. :-)
DeleteI go all out for New Years plans. I love the psychological kick in the pants and clean slate the changing of years brings.
ReplyDeleteSadly, I have had a cold since Christmas and have spent most of the new year in bed. I can't wait to make goals once I'm feeling better.
I am so excited for all that is coming for Go Teen Writers!!!
The geekiest thing I got for Christmas was an Origami Owl locket. The hopeless romantic in me was totally geeking out. And my parents gave it to me while the song "His favorite christmas story" played which is one of my favorite christmas songs and is really romantic and vintage feeling.
That is so neat! I hadn't heard of those, so I Googled them, and they are really fun. I hope you're feeling better. :-)
DeleteI have gone all out with my new years resolutions this year. I have 9 pages of them! Writing wise I want to get published, improve my grammar and pass my English exams.
ReplyDeleteI can't wait for all that is coming to Go Teen Writers!
The nerdiest Christmas present I received was the Go Teen Writers book. I was attached for the next two days!
Yay! That's fun :)
DeleteYes, the book was very helpful to me:)
DeleteExciting! Happy 2017! :)
ReplyDeleteLove the parasol!
My most wonderful nerdly present was a knitted Jayne from Firefly hat which a friend made me -- IT'S AMAZING. <3 (Also a Diana Wynne Jones books and essays on Tolkien. :D)
*sighs* I didn't get any nerdy presents this year. Probably because no one knows I'm secretly nerdy.
ReplyDeleteWorking on a book of poetry. I have an amazing friend who is working as my editor and really making it shine. She wrote The Road, Taken (Oloris Publishing) and inspired me to write my own. I highly recommend it, especially if you are a fan of Middle-earth and the Ring-bearer. :) Also working on a non-fiction book about Bilbo and Frodo. The first book will be done this year, the second by end of next. And many more books are inside, anxious to come out! :)
ReplyDeleteGot a bunch of books from my sister who does not mind going to one of my wish-lists and buying me stuff I want. The list is so large, I don't know exactly what so it's still a surprise - yea! She is the best to do that!
God bless, Anne Marie :)
I won a bunch of Amazon Gift Cards at Facebook Book Events over the holidays. That was fun. Wishing you all a happy new year and all the best with the teen writers blog.
ReplyDeleteFun! Looking forward to the posts this year. :) I did get some nerdy gifts this last Christmas... a Jane Austen candle, & Anne of Green Gables and A Little Princess in Japanese! :D
ReplyDeletewww.victoriaminks.com
This sounds like a great idea for the new year. I can't wait!
ReplyDeleteAh, this all sounds so cool! Can't wait!
ReplyDeleteLove the parasol. :)
