YOU GUYS! Go Teen Writers has an Instagram account! We've spread the word on social media but realized we hadn't actually announced it here on the blog. Major fail!
To kick off our first full month on Instagram, we're going to launch an Instagram challenge for the month of June. Have you guys ever participated in one of these? If you haven't, let me tell you how it works.
First, you'll need the graphic we created. You'll find it here and on our Instagram profile: @goteenwriters. Post the graphic to your Instagram account this week to tell your followers that you'll be participating and to help us spread the word. The more, the merrier!
As you can see, each day of June has been given a prompt. Your job is to snap a picture that somehow addresses the prompt and maybe works in books and/or writing. You don't have to be super literal. Feel free to use the prompt as a jumping off point, and get creative. It's fun to stretch our wings and use our creativity in areas other than writing.
Once you've snapped your picture for the day, post it on Instagram and use the challenge's hashtag (#GTWJune17) in your caption. Throughout the challenge, we'll monitor the hashtag and share some of our favorite pictures on Fridays.
Make sense? If you have questions, please feel free to ask them in the comments section below and we'll do our best to get to them this week before the challenge kicks off on June 1st!
We're so excited, you guys! Come find us on Instagram!
>>> It is TOTALLY okay to not have social media, you guys! I'm a mean mom and my kids aren't allowed to have Instagram just yet. But there are a decent amount of Go Teen Writers readers that are active on Instagram and we want to make sure we're having fun and providing content across all our platforms. So, please don't feel left out. If you're looking for a way to participate, you can absolutely use the challenge to provide you with daily writing prompts. THANK YOU ALL FOR LOVING US and for letting us stretch our wings a bit. <<<

Aw! I would love to do this, but I don't have a phone!
ReplyDeleteI just added a note to the post! Check it out and please don't feel left out.

ReplyDeleteCongratulations to you guys for getting an Instagram! That sounds exciting! I would love to participate, since I live photography, but I don't have an Instagram account. But have fun, you guys!
ReplyDeleteYou are welcome to use the prompts in any way you like, friend. I love photography too!
DeleteThis would be fun, but I don't have an Instagram account! Sorry, Ya'l. :\
ReplyDeleteSame. I don't have an Instagram, but hopefully everyone else has fun doing this. Haven't seen you on here in a while. How is your cousin?
DeleteI've wondered what happened to you.
God Bless.
Yeah, I wish those who can participate the best. :)
DeleteYeah, I've been really busy and writing when I can fit in the time. It's been kind of hard lately. :\
My cousin's still in a lot of pain. It hurts my heart so much to see him suffering like this. In some ways, he's getting a bit better, but it's still really bad. Mean nurses make everything worse. I mean, how could you be so cruel to a patient who's suffering? Cabell needs to get with it. I know that soon he'll be looking back on this little incident and saying: "Look what God got me through". Healing will come.
I'm smiling so big right now. I'm glad you noticed I was gone. :)
God bless you, PT.
I love that you guys are loving on one another!
DeleteI know what you mean about mean nurses and doctors. Don't even get me started on that. Hopefully there will be better nurses soon.
DeleteThat's good that you've been writing. I've had a harder time fitting it in. End of the school year is crazy. Glad you're doing okay and I'm happy he's getting better. With each passing day it will get better. :)
God Bless <3
He actually got a good nurse the other day, so thank God for that.
DeleteIt's so chaotic to get everything done for school. Lol
Thanks, PT! I'm glad we're seeing some improvement. I thank God that things aren't worse for him. He and his family could have died, but he listened to God. He got hurt and is in pain, but he said if he had to go back into the burning house again for his baby girl and everyone else, he would. I thank God for giving my cousin a longer life, and for healing him every day. He's an awesome God.
@Mrs. Dittemore: I'm glad you all care! <3
That's good. Nurses these days need to get better with their bedside manner. But, neither here nor there, I'm happy he's healing and I know God is watching over him and his family.
DeleteGod Bless <3
I mean it's not just manners, they were making fun of him while he was in agony. And rebuking him for struggling under pain.
DeleteSo am I!
God bless you as well, PT! <3
That's awful! I'm so sorry he had to go through that. People these days can just be ... there's no words. Hopefully they get caught and reprimanded.
DeleteGod Bless
Hey, I got a blog! It's at iviewrites.blogspot.com. If you want to check it out, you can. Ivie is my pen name for now. I like when things are spelled differently and my mom gave me that idea. I haven't done any major postings yet besides a first post, but I thought you might like to check it out. :)
DeleteIt hurts him so much, and it hurts me to think of how mean people can be, but it'll be over soon. I know it will.
DeleteYeah, I'm pretty sure they got fired. I may be wrong, but I think that's what I heard. I pray that they did.
YAY! I'd love to. I've been waiting for it, and you know I'll check it out. Lol
I LOVE that pen name! So do I. I like to be different. ;)
Kind of sad how none of us have an Instagram so far. I was feeling a little bummed that I wouldn't be able to participate, but at least I know I'm not alone. I just don't want social media yet. I will once I'm in the marketing stages, but until then, I don't want to start anything. Except a blog. I am working on doing that.
ReplyDeleteGod bless Y'all.
By so far, I meant those of us who have commented so far. I'm aware that later on, other people will comment who have Instagrams. I realize I was not very clear.
DeleteI just added a little post script to the post. Check it out, okay? Please don't feel bad about not having an IG. I don't let my kiddos have social media just yet either.
DeleteWHYYYYYYY????????????????? *cries*
ReplyDeleteI agree with PT. How UNFORTUNATE.
Yeah. I don't have a phone, and Mum's like NO INSTAGRAM, GIRLIE! Crapola.
Check out my latest post script to the blog post. It is seriously OKAY to not have Instagram. ;)
DeleteLol, GJE. It's kind of a bummer, but we can use these as writing prompts like Mrs. Dittemore said. I didn't really think of it that way and I don't regret not having social media. I could if I wanted. I just don't right now, lol.
DeleteMrs. Dittermore: Thanks! I'm going to use it.
DeletePT: It is, but I agree with you. I would't want social media. I am very glad about that. So many short story ideas. <3
@GJE, I got a blog now! Its at iviewrites.blogspot.com. I know you asked a while back and now I have one if you want to check it out. Nothing major on it yet and I'm still working out a few things, lol. :)
DeleteOh my goodness! YAY!!! XD Thanx for telling me! :D
DeleteYay! I have an Instagram!!! And this looks like FUN!!
ReplyDeleteCool idea, guys!
Wow, too many exclamation marks!!! ;)
Hooray! Hope to see you over there! <3
DeleteIt is TOTALLY okay to not have social media, you guys! I'm a mean mom and my kids don't have it either. ReplyDeleteYou're not a mean mom for doing that. I think it's better for kids to not have social media. It keeps them safe. Thank you for the idea to use them as writing prompts. I might just do that. God Bless and thank you for the wonderful article.
DeleteI absolutely agree with PT, Mrs. Dittemore. I'll be getting my own phone this summer for my 18th birthday, and I don't even really want it that much. Social media has its bonuses, but I don't think it's a good idea for kids. Thank you for including everyone else with the writing prompts, though!
DeleteLike PT said, you're not a mean mom for that. Watching out for your kids and understanding that the Internet and its nooks and crannies aren't for your kids yet is definitely a good thing. I totally understand that you want to let others join in the fun that you guys do, and that's great! And I just might use them as writing prompts or even on my own. Thank you so much, Mrs Dittemore!
DeleteI agree with PT! You're totally not a mean mom. You make choices that you think are good for your kids, and that's a good thing. Your blog helps me a lot and I the Friday prompts are the best. :)
DeleteYou're a wonderful person, Mrs. Dittemore. You're helping my writing and you should be proud of yourself for all the great tips and writing skills you have up your sleeves. :)
We love you guys! <3
@Lilly, I don't have a phone yet, either. I would understand if I had a job or if I went to a public school with all these crazy teachers these days, but I don't. I'm happy without one. And I'm happy without social media as well. Keeping younger kids off social media protects them from things they aren't ready for. So many parents like to expose their children too soon and they become messed up. So @Mrs. Dittemore, you're doing the right thing.
DeleteThank you for this wonderful community! I love coming here all the time.
God Bless y'all
Sorry, Lily, I spelled your name wrong. I knew someone with two l's and misspelled your name.
DeleteGod Bless
You aren't mean! My mum won't let me have it either. She knows that if i got it I would become ADDICTED. Lol XD
DeleteCoooool. 😊 I JUST got an Instagram account, so the timing is perfect.
ReplyDeletePerfect!
DeleteSO cool that we can do this! What about if our instagram accounts are private? Should we still do this, or...
ReplyDeleteYou absolutely can, of course! The only people who will be able to see your posts will be your followers though.
DeleteI am so excited for this:) I love Instagram but I never have a lot to post!
ReplyDeleteWe are happy to provide ideas!
DeleteGlad to know I'm not the only person who has a "mean mom". :D Thanks for the prompts!! Hopefully I'll get some words with these. ;D
ReplyDeleteIs it okay to participate even if you don't plan on doing the challenge every day?
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely! I hop in and out of challenges all the time!
DeleteLooks like fun, but unfortunately, I don't have an Instagram account. I'll try to use them as writing prompts, though! :)
ReplyDeleteYesss!
DeleteYay! What fun.
ReplyDeleteI thought so too!
DeleteHey, everyone. Totally unrelated to the lovely post, but I just started a blog and just wanted to advertise a little. You might have seen me comment around here as PT, but now I'm Ivie. (PT was initials to the pen name I was going to use until I found out what it was tied to. So now my pen name is Ivie. Thanks again for this lovely post, Mrs. Dittemore!
ReplyDeleteGod bless y'all. :)
Oh, looks so fun!
ReplyDeleteUgh, that sound really fun, but I don't have a social media account, nor do I want one. Oh well.
