Stephanie here! Or "not-here" would perhaps be a bit more accurate for this post.
I'm on a retreat with Roseanna White in a cute little house near Annapolis, Maryland. We're having a great time, eating chocolate, writing, and brainstorming miserable fates for our characters.

Happy to have big, comfy leather furniture at this house! |

That's what our retreat is all about! |

The decor here is very on point for us. |

Nice enough weather to eat outside most meals! |

We celebrate hitting our daily word goal with ice cream. Except for when we don't make our daily word goal. Then we cheer ourselves up with ice cream. |
Next week, author and community member Lydia Howe will be our guest! We'll be getting ready to kick off the 100 for 100 writing challenge, and Lydia has been doing this challenge for
years. I'm stoked for the chance to learn from her, and I know you will be too!
Happy writing, friends!
You seem to be having so much fun, Stephanie! Wow. Also, can you give me a few details about the 100-for-100 challenge when you get the chance? I'm curious about if there are any grace days, and I also want to know if we have to stick with one book or not. If we do, when are we able to switch into another book?

We are fairly loose with the guidelines, Amanda. We allow one grace day a week, and then one grace week (so if you're on vacation, or a week just goes poorly, or whatever, you can just shrug it off and continue.) We suggest sticking with one book (or short story, or whatever it is your'e working on). Unless you finish and need to start something new.
DeleteIt's a tough balance to be flexible, but still motivating, you know? That's really the goal is to motivate us all and build community.
I'm so excited for this! My mom will probably push me towards no grace days, but I'm fine with that.

This looks like an amazing thing. I need to have a writing vacation some day. :P

It's SO great. It's become something we do every year, and I'm very thankful for it!
DeleteHave a great time, Stephanie!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Sarah!

ReplyDeleteThanks, Olivia!
DeleteYou're spot on with the ice cream! :)
ReplyDeleteRight???
DeleteHave a great vacation - but It looks like your'e dong that already! ;) And the 100for 100 challenge is so soon?! I'm definitely excited for that, and the timing's great - leaves me something to do for the summer months so I don't get bored out of my mind!

Thank you, True! Yes, the summer months can be tricky because they bring a change of routine for many of us. But there are also more long vacations, mission trips, etc. What I love about the 100-for-100 is that it's so doable even on days when you can only find ten minutes to write. I'm delighted you'll be joining us!
DeleteWow that looks like fun!!! writing, chocolate, brainstorming... It's like a dream! lol
