About Us

Stephanie Morrill
Once upon a time, I was a high school writer who dreamed of being published and had no idea how to go about making that happen.

Because I knew nothing and no one when I started down the road of publication, I'm passionate about sharing what knowledge I've gained with the next generation of writers. That's what Go Teen Writers is all abouthonesty, encouragement, and community.

I've written contemporary young adult novels, which you can learn more about on my author website. My latest release is a YA historical mystery titled The Lost Girl of Astor Street. You can connect with me on InstagramFacebookTwitter, and Pinterest.

Jill Williamson
In 2012, Jill Williamson joined me on Go Teen Writers. She's the Christy-award-winning author of many popular sci-fi and fantasy novels. Her latest series is The Kinsman Chronicles, which you can learn more about on her  author website. You can also find Jill on InstagramFacebookTwitter, and Pinterest.

Shannon Dittemore
In 2014, we added Shannon Dittemore to the mix. Shannon is the author of the Angel Eyes trilogy. She mentors teen writers at a school in California, and we feel very lucky that she shares her wisdom here too! Hang out with Shannon on InstagramFacebook, Twitter, Pinterest, and her author website.

We hope you find Go Teen Writers to be a fun and encouraging community!

  1. Hi Stephanie,

I love your blog! It's pack-filled with amazing and resourceful tips for teen writers. I hope to some day mentor as many teens as you do.

I'm a teen novelist, too, but am trying to find a home for my YA paranormal, suspense series. In the meantime, while I'm juggling rewrites, etc., I started a blog for teen writers.

Last week, I went to the Write to Publish Conference in IL and took notes on editor needs. I've posted their sites and guidelines at my blog. Many of the editors are looking for teen authors. Would you let your teens know if they're looking for summer writing jobs to check it out?

Also, I'll be blogging about Splickety, a flash fiction magazine, and featuring Ben, their editor. He'll be posting about how to write flash fiction. I thought maybe your teens would like to enter submissions in some of these categories.

Thanks for what you do. I'd love to meet you sometime. WIll you be going to the ACFW in September? Any other conferences?

    Best,
    Michelle

  4. Jill and Stephanie:
I am DYING to read your books- I've read the first three chapters of every single one on Amazon and now I am in huge distress, because I am in love with Ellie and Spencer and Palmer and Gabriel and Chase and all I can find are Kindle editions and I don't have a Kindle :((( (Whew, quite a run on sentence there. ;) Are any of your books in hard copy, and where can I get them?
    Thanks so much!
    -Ana

    1. Hi Anastasia! Yes, all our books are available in paperback form. Because the Ellie books and Jill's Mission League series are with small presses, they can be tough to find in brick-and-mortar stores. You can order the paperback forms on Amazon, though, or request them from your library.

  5. I turn 12 at the beginning of August. Am I still allowed to enter contests and things like that??? I'm working on a book that I would like to get published soon (like next year soon) and I need a LOT of help. And this blog rocks!! And doing little stories would help.

Oh, and btw, I like to put a lot about my characters in the beginning of the first chapter... is that bad??? Should I spread it out a little more???

    Thanks!

  6. Hi,

I tried to do another comment, but I don't know if you ever got it (did you?)

Anyway, absolutely LOVE your blog!!! Sooooo happy I found it! ;) I'm working on a book of my own, hopefully to get published sometime between May 2014 - January 2015. (that would be the time i am in america, i live in indonesia)

I'm reading your book, the one about getting published, I LOVE it so far!! Can't wait to get deeper into it!!

Btw, when i write, in the 1st, 2nd, or 3rd paragraph of the book you know a LOT about my main character. Is that too much about her in such a little bit of time???

Oh, and another thing: I'm 12 (well, I'll be 12 next Saturday), can I still do contests and things like that??

    Thanks,
    Abrielle Lindsay

  18. Hello!

You have no idea how encouraging this has been for me! I am an aspiring author, but only 15 years old. I write over a thousand words a day on my WIP which to be honest, I am in love with. I started this book, though the name is subject to change, "The convergence Chronicles: Book #1 Hiding,Seeking" . Your blog has already helped me get started and I look forward to being able to post up here again saying I am a published author thanks to you!!
