Vote on the Name for Ellie Sweet's Blog

by Stephanie Morrill

I feel super guilty. I thought I was going to have the winners of the writing spaces contest available for you all today, and I don't. Not only do I not have results, but I'm going to ask a favor of you. Shameless.

To ease my guilt, I'm going to give away a copy of Jill Williamson's new release, Captives.

I ordered an extra one when I bought mine. To get entered to win, vote on the name you like best, and then leave a comment saying something like, "I voted!" You don't have to say which one you voted for, and if you want you can just say, "Jill rocks!" and you'll be entered to win. (Due to the realities of pricey international shipping, the Captives give away is available to U.S. residents only. If you reside outside the United States, I'll hook you up with a free download of the Go Teen Writers book.)

I loved so many of the suggestions you guys came up with on Monday, and I tried really hard to narrow it down to ten that I felt fit the story and Ellie the best. I wound up with twelve. Here they are, along with the person who suggested it first:

Sweet Scribbles - Amanda
The Sweet Life of Writing - Lily
Sweet on Writing - Rae
Sweetly Written - Brittney Ann
Sweet Somethings - Anna (like a play on Sweet Nothings.)
Sweet Debut - Javoniel Trowers
Love, Life, and Sweet Adventures - Aizess
Princess of the Pen - Amo Libros
The Sword of Lady Gabrielle - Amo Libros
Sugar and Spice and Sweet's Writing Life - Mime and Amo Libros
The Sweet Life of a Teen Writer - Tinkerirock and Katie Scheidhauer
Ladies, Knights, and Sweet's Writing Life - Aizess

Also, bonus points (read: a free download of The Revised Life of Ellie Sweet) for Lydia Hart, who was awesome enough to share that her last name is Hart but she would never make her blog something with a play on heart. Even though I still think Ellie could lean that way (for branding purposes), Lydia's comment gave me something to think about, and I know her words are going to make it into the scene. Thank you, Lydia!

Voting will stay open through Thursday!

  1. Whoo, those are good names! :)

And by the way, oddly enough, I read The Revised Life of Ellie Sweet for the street team the very day you posted that contest thingy...how interesting! I absolutely loved it, by the way!

Interesting thought from Lydia Hart. My last name is Good and I toyed with the idea of making my blog a play on that, but I ended up just going with my full name. So I can understand both doing a play on Sweet or not doing so.
