Invitations, Book Sales, and a Virtual Writing Retreat

Stephanie here. Jill and I are super excited to share that Go Teen Writers will be hosting a virtual writing retreat August 16th-18th. We're still hammering out the details on our end, but we envision it being a weekend of encouragement, socializing, and - of course - writing. Since this is an online event, all you need to participate is an internet connection and your work-in-progress. Jot a note on your calendars, and keep an eye on the blog for more details.

In other happy news, my latest release, The Revised Life of Ellie Sweet is on sale for $2.99 on your Kindle. So if you're wanting to read it, grab it now before the Amazon sale expires!

Also, tonight is the Playlist Fiction Twitter Party, and I would love to see you there:

If you're on Twitter, this will be a great chance to interact with published writers (all the Playlist gals will be there - me, Laura L. Smith, Laura Anderson Kurk, Rajdeep Paulus, and Jennifer Murgia) and a chance to grab cool prizes.

We're using #playlistfiction for the party and you can follow me on Twitter, @StephMorrill, to be included in all the action.

Also going on this month, Playlist Fiction is giving away a very cool beach bag. So if you buy The Revised Life of Ellie Sweet or any of the other Playlist titles, make sure you email your receipt to PlaylistFiction(at)gmail.com for your chance to win.

Jill will be here tomorrow talking about unique voice in dialogue. Have a great Thursday!

    1. I meant writing retreat. I was thinking about writing conferences and, well, you all know what happens when you're thinking and writing. ;)

  11. OK I have a question that has nothing to do with this post but I just really was wondering about this- do you know of any good critique groups out there for teens? I've been looking for one but I really don't see many out there. I'd really appreciate it if you could give me some suggestions. Thanks!

    1. If you're on Facebook, you can join the Go Teen Writers Facebook group. There are always lots of people who are happy to critique!

    2. Brittney Ann, I was looking for the same thing and failed. Maybe we can start one on Google plus? Otherwise, I wouldn't mind another critique partner! You can never have too many friends . . . or books . . . although, my bulging shelves beg to differ ;)

    3. From Amo Libros:
This is something you might find interesting. It's not a critique group, quite, but it is a teen writers' group and they are hoping to be a model for others: http://www.writersoftheroundtable.org/

  12. A writing retreat... That. Sounds. Awesome. Period. I shall mark it on my dinky little quote-of-the-day flip calendar. :) And pray my parents don't have plans for that weekend.

Sadly, I do not have twitter. Well, have fun, all ye who shall attend! Make up for the fun I won't have by having extra fun yourself. ;)

  14. I'm excited! Stephanie, I really like to write and want to publish a book. I think I may purchase the "Go Teen Writers" Book, for that!
By any chance, could you please check for me if Tate Publishing is a good publishing company? Because I wanted to use that.
Please check out my random blog on which I post stories!

    1. Autumn, Google, "Should I publish with Tate Publishing?" and you'll find lots of, "No." Here's a link to a blog that discusses why: http://askaliteraryagent.blogspot.com/2012/06/should-i-pay-fee-to-have-my-work.html

  15. Oh, that writing retreat sounds like an epic idea!! I hope I can make it! :D And I don't have a twitter account, but I hope you all have fun tonight! I almost want to get one for that... but since I'm participating in Camp NaNoWriMo, I should probably go write instead. :P Hope you all have fun, and really looking forward to that writing retreat! :D

      One more question (sorry!):
      1. Will our email address be out in public? or do we just need it to sign into a forum?
