Hey there, writing machines. How goes it?
Jill here. I had a rough Monday. Tough to get the words out today, sadly, and I have no excuse. I wrote myself into a circle and knew I needed to change something, but couldn't figure out what. I ended up adding two new chapters, which I'm not sure I actually want to do, but it was the only way to move past the Stuck. It was like my engine was a little cold today or something. I've hit 2397 words, which is enough to quit, so I will. I need to make dinner. Maybe I'll get a second steam and come back, but if not, at least I cut out in the middle of a scene, which often makes it easier to get started the next day.
I'm at 19,347 so far for November. How are all you doing? I'm curious if anyone else had a bad case of the Mondays or if it was only me?
I have a big goose egg for today :( Too many germs floating around my house to write.
ReplyDeleteBut I'm really enjoying Shades of Milk and Honey, so that's a plus :)
It's not just you two. I have been sick a lot lately and after ending last week on a good note with around 12,000 words, I haven't been able to go back to my poor novel since. Between long shifts at work and a bad cold, it's been all I can do to get out of bed and catch up on homework. But, I'm doing better now so hopefully I can get back on that horse. Good luck to you both too! May God guide your pens (or keyboards). ;)
ReplyDeleteUgh. Writing when sick is the WORST. I hope you feel better soon, and you're able to get back to your novel!
DeleteI have just what I need... exactly to the word, lol. Somehow I ended the day right at 11,000 something another...and realized it was perfect ;)
ReplyDeleteI got really distracted yesterday, so I only was able to raise my word count by 2%, but some words are better than no words. :)
ReplyDeleteI hope that I can get around 7% or 8% by the end of today.
Absolutely, Bianca.
DeleteI finished yesterday (the 7th) with 13,000. It was a pretty rough day, so writing was not on the top of my to-do list. Lord willing, today will a good writing day!
ReplyDeleteI hope so, Sarah!
DeleteI haven't started writing yet today, so y'all are far better off than I am!! I have over 20,000 words right now, and am still trucking along. As I mentioned to Sarah Rodecker (the super cool gal commenting above me), that this is the messiest draft I think I have ever written (but it's still a lot of fun!). I'm not holding myself back - I'm letting myself do backstory dumps, long descriptions, and so on, just so I can let the word count add up. After all, that's what editing is for, right??!? :)

Due to writing a script instead of my novel, things are not so great. But I've written quite a bit in my script!
